Organic Fertilizers: Slowly But Surely

In today’s age, everyone wants everything to be quick. Fastfood. A faster internet connection. Less traffic. Fast deliveries or else the pizza is free. People seem to have a lower emotional quotient and less patience to wait on anything. And to be getting instant results that should take time, we cheat and create fake alternatives. That is why sometimes all these fake alternatives can cause us harmful effects in the end. Let’s take chemical fertilizers as an example.

Chemical fertilizers, or also known as in organic fertilizers were brought about in the 1930’s for a hurried process in growing crops. Scientists have developed a formula for plants to get the needed nutrients to grow with the added chemical kick for them to grow faster. Faster crop growth, faster sales, and faster money. But little did they know that this shortcut is causing us our health and our planet’s health as well. The use of inorganic fertilizers have now monopolized crop growth and caused our produce, vegetables, fruits, and crops, to have a depleted or an incomplete set of vitamins and nutrients available in them for our intake. In simpler terms, the produce aka vegetables, fruits, and the like, due to the fact that it was grown hastingly, now fail to provide us with the vitamins and nutrients we need from them. Oranges now give us only about 50% of vitamin C and carrots can only give 80% of our daily dose of vitamin A. Of course these aren’t accurate, it’s just a rough example to get the point across.

So what do we do, you may ask? If there are inorganic fertilizers, of course there are organic fertilizers too. Naturally there was an earlier method to growing crops but it obviously took time that’s why they created an alternative. Organic fertilizers may take time but it’s healthier and safer for everyone who will be taking what these fertilizers are fertilizing. Organic fertilizers are made of natural animal and vegetable matter used to promote the healthy growth of crop and produce. The use of organic fertilizers provide our food the complete supplements it needs to grow in its full force and be able to supply our own needs to be healthy as well. Organic fertilizers are not only exclusive to fruits and vegetables but they also do magnificent work on your lawn and flower beds! In order to obtain organic fertilizers at home, all you have to do is create a compost heap. By doing this, not only have you taken part in going green by using organic fertilizers but by creating a compost heap, you’re also recycling trash at home and putting it to good use.

Since we’re talking about going organic, why don’t you also give organic cleaners a try? It’s inexpensive, accessible, healthier and safer. Forget those chemical cleaners that rob your pockets and your family of their health. Switch and go green instead. There are plenty of alternatives that are healthier, highly functional and cost-efficient that you should try like switching to solar camping gear or trying bamboo bed sheets. We’re sure the benefits you’ll be getting at the switch would be endless. Take organic fertilizers for one, the process it provides might be slow, but it’s always worth it in the end.
